Three Score and Ten

Mom has finally reached that magical milestone of her eventful life, the age of SEVENTY! In honor of this significant event, the younger generation of the Allen Family rose to the occasion to plan an incredible surprise for dear old Mom.

Plans were hatched in secret over several weeks. Friends were notified and orders given that no hints would be forthcoming. The honoree knew nothing except that she had to be ready to go at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, July 16th. The stage was set...

On the appointed morning, Mom carefully dressed in more formal attire than her usual pair of jeans. She struggled into a rapidly shrinking lacy top that was the coolest thing she could find to wear.

Trembling with anticipation, she awaited whatever was to transpire next. Right on time, a black convertible arrived, chauffered by her daughter-in-law, Sue! Mom wasted no time with idle questions. She grabbed her hat, leapt into the car and off they motored toward Richmond!

To make a long story shorter, my birthday surprise was the Sunday Champagne Brunch at the famous Hotel Jefferson! All the sons were there; as well as Sue and our friends, Tracie and Terri. The whole event was absolutely stupendous! The atmosphere was elegant; the food scrumptious and plentiful and the company perfect.

Thanks to all of you dear ones for a fabulous Birthday Party! Since pictures speak louder than words, please click on the link below and relive this wonderful day when we were all together again.
